Dear Yuletide Writer,

A very merry, soon-to-be Christmas to you!

Here we are again, back at our Yuletide drawing boards! I've become no more coherent in the years I've been participating, but as always, I'll do my best to make myself understood.

As always, don't worry too much about hitting the points that I like--as long as you avoid what I don't, I'm sure to love it!

And so, onwards and upwards!

General Likes:
* Injuries, particularly those inflicted on my favorite characters.
* Spoilers. I'm a huge sucker for spoilers. (Take a look in the fandom-specific blurbs below to get an idea of what's spoilers for me.)
* Foreign languages. (If you're an aspiring polyglot, then by all means, exercise your knowledge, no matter what the language. Any and all are good!)
* Non-romantic/lightly romantic cuddling.
* Plotty stories.
* Hurt/comfort.
* Enemies who have a deep respect for each other, particularly if both parties are aware of the other's respect.
* Stories based on songs, or stories including appropriate song lyrics. (I'd appreciate it if the title and artist were mentioned, however!)
* Alternate realities.
* Romance that's so mild and sweet that you barely notice it's romance.
* Stories that fill canonical gaps.
* Gender-bending.
* Puns.
* Fork-in-the-road AUs.
* Clever sidekicks/buddies.
* Psychological horror, especially if it leaves me unable to close my eyes for the next three weeks.

General Dislikes:
* Female characters, usually, unless I specifically requested them. (Having one appear in a story as a supporting characters is fine, whether I like them or not, as long as they don't end up taking the spotlight.)
* Super dark and depressing, i.e, THERE IS NO HOPE IN THE WORLD.
* Depressing endings.
* Gory horror stories, i.e, it's only horrifying in that there's so much blood.
* Hard-core romance.

Now, on to specifics!

    +Anima

I got on a manga kick lately, and this was one of the first I devoured. I like everything about these three, and would love to see more of their daily life. Or take a look at their pasts, and how they ended up where they were! Why does Husky like jewelry so much? Where was Cooro living all that time before the manga started? Have them meet a new +Anima, even! Anything on the light and fluffy side of their life would make my Yuletide!

I've read up through the fourth volume.

    Dorothy of Oz

The sheer awesomeness of this adaption really got me. I mean, deep inside, it's the same Wizard of Oz that just about everyone knows, and yet it's unique. By far, Namu and Abee are my favorites (sorry about that, Mara and Toto), and yet, they don't get shown together much, and when they are together, they're usually focusing on something else. So a story with the two of them doing something on their own time would be amazing. Take a look at how they interact, or show them at odds over something! Have Namu be his normal, intense self, and have Abee mangle his every fifth word--or even make those things be the focus of the story!

I've read up through the fourth volume.

    Grimm

These three are probably my favorite characters in the entire show, so there's not much you can do wrong, here. But something with all of them at once would be nice. If that's a bit too much, show more weapons practice! Do Rosalee whipping up her weird--and usually gag-inducing--mixtures, or even better, have her get pushed into Woge-ing! If you're feeling especially bold, delve into Renard's complicated family life!

I've seen all of the second season, but no further.

    Gaunt's Ghosts

I guess what got me here was the sheer enormity of the Warhammer 40K world, and how within that even the awesomeness of the Tanith seems like a (sadly, often ignored) drop in the bucket. And by far, Gaunt and Rawne are the two most awesome guys of the regiment (although there are plenty of people clamoring for places beyond that!) I mean, there's Gaunt with all of his surprisingly decent colonel-commissarly ways, protecting the Tanith like they were his own kids, and Rawne with his long-held grudge against Gaunt, his angry/loner ways, and his precious, precious knife--what's not to like? And they go on for half a dozen books hating each others' guts, but then they turn completely around and start almost liking each other, and somehow manage to not make the entire thing look contrived. And...nicknames! There's just so much here, that I couldn't possibly list all the things that I would love to see. However, I would be pleased with anything having to do with their friendship. What sort of things do they do on their off time? How did the rest of the Tanith take it when they came back from Gereon with a deeply ingrained friendship? Take a look at Rawne's childhood, even, if you're feeling particularly adventurous.

I've read up through "Salvation's Reach."

    Mozart, L'Opéra Rock

Yes, I have a weakness for French musicals, or musicals that have been translated into French. I liked this one largely because of how Salieri managed to be falling apart mentally and yet a very strong, awesome character at the same time. And Mozart, you cheerful, exuberant perv, you. Seeing them on an average day, at odds with each other, would be fantastic. Or if Salieri bullied/cajoled Mozart into living, at the end...maybe? Really, anything with the two of them, whether as enemies or as friends (or somewhere in between) would be lovely. And if you feel like getting into composer-ly details, go for it! I don't understand much about it myself, but I would love to hear it!

I've seen the entire musical.

    Romeo et Juliette

This musical was a bit of a surprise, because it's all about Romeo and Juliet, but I ended up adoring the supporting characters...only one of whom actually makes it all the way to the end. Yes, this is the way my brain works. Show me how Tybalt and Mercutio's oddly personal animosity goes on a day-to-day basis! Have that little guardian cherub, Benvolio, take a day off from his friends and go on an adventure of his own! Anything showcasing their individual personalities would make me squee with delight! And by all means, take a page out of the play's book and have Mercutio go on long punning streaks!

I've seen the entire musical.

Now that you've made it through my rambling, I hope you know more about my preferences, and didn't fall asleep in the middle. So have fun, and don't worry about it too much! I'm sure to love whatever you do!
